PRIVACY POLICY
THE WALL is designed as a sanctuary for anonymous expression. While we prioritize your privacy, we are committed to maintaining a safe environment and complying with legal standards. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.
1. Philosophy of Anonymity
Our core mission is to provide a space where you are a 'ghost' to the public. You do not need to create an account to post a regret, and we never display your personal identity to other users unless you explicitly choose to link a profile.
- •Postings are anonymous by default.
- •Linking a profile is entirely optional and reversible.
- •We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
2. Data We Collect & Technical Logging
To protect our community from abuse (spam, hate speech, illegal activities), we collect certain technical data during your session. This is standard practice for modern web applications to prevent DDoS attacks and platform misuse.
- •Technical Metadata: IP addresses, browser types, and device identifiers.
- •Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent, and interaction with regrets.
- •Confession Data: The text you submit and the associated local context (country/language).
3. AI Guardian and Content Moderation
Every piece of text you submit to The Wall is processed by our AI Guardian before it is archived. This system is designed to identify and block harmful content while providing meaningful philosophical consolation.
- •AI Analysis: We analyze text for patterns of hate speech, violence, and PII.
- •Archival: Successfully processed regrets are stored in our secure database.
- •Silencing: Content that violates our rules is discarded and never displayed publicly.
4. Third-Party Services & Advertising
To maintain the operations of this free repository, we utilize trusted third-party services. These services may use cookies and other tracking technologies to provide specialized functionality.
- •Google AdSense: We use AdSense to serve ads. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings.
- •Google Analytics: We use Analytics to understand our global audience. This helps us improve site performance and relevant content strategies.
- •Supabase/Firebase: These are used for our secure backend storage and authentication (if you choose to create a profile).
- •To learn more about how Google uses data when you use our site, visit: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/
5. Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We use them for session management, security, and to remember your preferences (like language selection).
- •Essential Cookies: Required for core site functions like posting and navigation.
- •Functional Cookies: Used to remember your local settings and language.
- •Third-Party Cookies: Set by advertising and analytics partners (see Section 4).
6. User Rights & Data Removal
You have the right to request access to or removal of your data. If you wish to have an anonymous regret removed, please use our dedicated removal request form on the Support page.
- •Data Deletion: Users with profiles can delete their accounts and all associated data instantly.
- •Anonymous Removal: We provide a manual process to remove anonymous posts that you authored.
- •Compliance: We respond to legitimate legal requests for data in accordance with international law.
This policy is effective as of February 2026. We balance total freedom of expression with absolute responsibility for community safety.
